HWD takes the scale off the drawing itself: a dimension line if there is one, otherwise the room dimensions added up across the plan, an 820 door leaf or a window code. It tells you which it used, and you can set the width yourself on the plan page if it has read it wrong — every room, every area and every price moves with it. You get every room as a rectangle you can move, resize, rename and price, with the doors and windows drawn in — and a home you can walk through. HWD rebuilds your plan as a home it can build rather than copying it: rooms are squared off, so a bay or a small step comes back straight, though an outside wall on the angle — a splayed corner, a canted front — is kept as it is. It reads both storeys when the drawing shows them side by side. Check the sizes against your drawing before you trust them — a photograph at an angle reads worse than a screenshot taken square.
